Training like a Pro

5 day weekend = tons of time.. 4.5 hours of riding/running today, including my first bike Erg session on a computrainer. Feelin good, feelin light, feelin fast. Only a few weeks until Shamrock Run…. Sub 29????

6 x 800…. Crushed it

Breakthrough workout for me today. 37 degrees outside meant it was time to get off the treadmill and really test the legs. Standard workout I’ve been doing the past few weeks –> 6 x 800m with 1:1 recovery.

Today the plan was to run the 800’s all at or under 2:45 with 2:45 recovery between each rep. Here’s what happened:

1 – 2:40.5
2 – 2:41.5
3 – 2::37
4 – 2:38.5
5 – 2:36
6 – 2:39

Generally had a tailwind for rep 1,3,5 and headwind for rep 2,4,6 that changed intensities throughout the workout. Probably the fastest post-collegiate workout I’ve ever done. Exactly 3 weeks from now I’ll be doing my last hard workout for the Shamrock 8k Run so right now I’d say I’m at a good place.

 

 

sidenote –> Weight has been steady, if not slightly dropping, with the lowest scale reading at 165 and the highest at 170 for the past 3 weeks. ┬áIt really is a joy to run at this weight compared to the 175-180 (or higher) I’ve been running at for the past 2 years.
